About Mary

mary slocum-b

When I was ten, I fell in love with poetry. One of the first poems I remember is The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. This poem has guided my life in many ways. How many times have I taken the less traveled road only to discover another divergence and taken that too? So many times and often in parallel. This is my way.

“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

Embracing beginner’s mind, I am passionate and compassionate in my work, curious and thoughtful in my study, and imaginative and steadfast in my writing.

After a long career in high tech, I became a student of mindfulness, began my meditation practice, and certified in BodyTalk (2011) and Focusing (2014). Since then, I have been working one-to-one with people who are seeking balanced health and well-being.

Supporting my clients’ healing process of going inside, being with what’s wanting attention, listening and receiving without judgment, resonating, embodying, and coming to know what feels right for them has been my work.

Recently I have decided to diverge once more. I am wanting more time to write, podcast, and work with groups of people. I am putting effort, here, in my blog and also venturing into podcasting as a way to reach more people. And, more than ever, I am feeling the calling to support people who are wanting to come into community because, so often we are too alone in this world of gadgets and soundbites.

Currently, I divide my time between the San Francisco Bay area of California and the northern Rockies of rural western Montana.
